On January 13, 2025, the Cosmos ecosystem experienced what happens when modular architecture meets a fundamental security flaw. MANTRA, KiiChain, and TAC—three independent application chains—all disclosed security breaches stemming from a single shared component: the cosmos/evm module. KiiChain alone lost 148,326,583.15 KII tokens. The attacker repeated the same exploit technique 18 times.
