Signal, for all its privacy strengths, is also centralized. Its foundation could be similarly targeted.

The contrarian truth is this: the industry has been building privacy on a foundation of corporate trust. That trust is now revealed as a liability.

The market is worried about Durov’s freedom. It should be worried about the precedent that any government can weaponize anti-terror laws to decapitate privacy projects. This is a systemic vulnerability in the global regulatory architecture.
