The market is sending a signal, but many are interpreting it as a temporary dip. I think it’s something deeper: an indictment of a narrative that never truly served its audience.
Let’s rewind to 2022. The multiverse of L1s—Solana, Avalanche, Terra (RIP), and all the sidechains—was thriving. But the dream of a single, unified liquidity layer was still a fantasy. VCs poured billions into “omnichain” solutions. Stargate launched. LayerZero raised $135 million at a $3 billion valuation. The pitch was elegant: one account, one balance, move freely across any chain. In practice, every cross-chain integration multiplies the attack surface. The bridge contract had three different implementations, each with a distinct bug. We flagged it as high risk.
